New Chronicle on DSLmag.com, « This shot » focus every week on a picture that maintain our attention. This time it’s a snowboard shot made by Laura Austin, the opportunity to discover more about her.
« This picture was taken during the Nike Chosen Sessions in Austria last winter. Nike built this insane private park at the top of the mountain for the event, but the biggest spectacle was this immaculate and ridable 200-foot swoosh crafted out of snow at the bottom of the park. On one of the last days on the mountain we got together a small group of riders for a shoot on the swoosh. That is when I snagged this photo of Finnish rider Peetu Piiroinen airing over the entire thing. Being only my second time to Europe I took a ton of photos on this trip, but this shot was definitely one of my favorites. »
More about Laura :
I’ve bounced around the snowboard industry for a while now, with my most recent job being the Online Editor at Snowboarder Magazine. I wouldn’t really consider myself a writer or a photographer… more of just a documentarian infatuated with meeting new people and traveling the world. My camera has just turned into my way of sharing those experiences with others in hopes of inspiring them to see the world for themselves.

Residence : San Clemente, CA, USA
set up : Canon 5D MarkIII, Panasonic Lumix GF1, Contax T2… this photo was shot with the 5D
What’s make a good picture for you : My favorite photos are when the photographer finds a situation that anyone else would find mundane, and makes it beautiful. Photographer William Eggleston is a perfect example of this.
